Product Overview

Power smarter, Fish longer. Stay safer.

When the mission matters, trust the battery that thinks ahead.

The SEAL™ 36V 105Ah Deep Cycle Lithium Battery isn’t just another power source — it’s a breakthrough in marine battery safety and performance. Engineered with A-grade LiFePO4 prismatic cells and a smart, marine-optimized Battery Management System (BMS), this high-capacity powerhouse delivers unwavering performance whether you’re charging through wind-blown bays or navigating offshore chop.

But here’s what sets it apart: the SEAL™ is the first lithium marine battery in the world to feature an integrated fire suppression system. While others ignore the elephant in the bilge — lithium fire risk — we built a solution directly into the battery. This self-contained, automatic suppression system is designed to detect abnormal thermal events and neutralize potential fire threats before they start, giving anglers, OEMs, and dealers peace of mind that no competitor can offer.

Say goodbye to heavy 3x 12V lead or lithium setups. This single 36V solution drastically reduces weight, installation time, and clutter, while boosting overall system efficiency. It’s fully sealed, saltwater rated, and built for the real world — not the showroom.

Whether you’re a tournament angler running a high-output trolling motor or a boat builder looking for scalable, safe lithium integration — this is your no-compromise solution.

FAQ

  • How does the SEAL™ built-in fire suppression system add protection?

SEAL™ contains a factory-integrated aerosol suppression device designed to activate automatically during a severe thermal incident inside the battery enclosure, helping to suppress and contain the event. It adds a layer of protection alongside the battery management system (BMS).

The sealed suppression device requires no routine maintenance and is not user serviceable. Do not open or attempt to recharge it. If activation or damage is suspected, stop using the battery and contact ABYSS for guidance.

  • Does SEAL™ have a built-in circuit breaker, and do I need additional protection?

Yes. SEAL™ has a pre-installed circuit breaker that helps protect against overcurrent by interrupting the circuit. It works alongside the BMS protections for voltage, current and temperature.

Your installer should confirm the cable sizing, connections and any additional circuit protection required by the complete installation and trolling motor manufacturer. If the breaker trips repeatedly, have the cause diagnosed before returning the system to service.

  • Does the battery come with a mounting tray?

Yes. The integrated base tray is included and ships with the SEAL™ battery, along with securing straps. You do not need to purchase a separate SEAL™ mounting tray.

Secure the tray to a sturdy mounting surface and use the supplied straps to hold the battery in place. Check the current battery footprint, cable clearances and mounting requirements in the SEAL™ owner's manual before installation.

  • Can one SEAL™ replace three 12V trolling motor batteries?

Yes. SEAL™ is a complete 36V-class, 105Ah lithium trolling motor battery designed to replace a bank of three 12V batteries connected in series for a compatible 36V motor.

Have your installer check the existing charger, wiring and connections for the new configuration. SEAL™ must not be connected in series or parallel with other batteries; use it as the single battery specified in the SEAL™ installation guide.

  • How do I confirm SEAL™ is compatible with my trolling motor?

Start with the exact motor model and its required operating voltage. SEAL™ is intended for compatible 36V trolling motors, including supported models from Minn Kota, Rhodan, Garmin, Power-Pole, Lowrance, MotorGuide and Simrad.

Before ordering, have your dealer or installer confirm the motor's voltage, current demand, connections and installation requirements against the current SEAL™ specifications. Compatibility should be checked by model and configuration, rather than by brand alone.

  • Which charger should I use, and can I keep my existing onboard charger?

Use a charger approved for the SEAL™ 36V LiFePO4 battery and configured to its specified lithium charging profile. ABYSS can help match a compatible 36V AC charger and the correct connection cable to your installation.

Have ABYSS or your installer confirm your existing charger's model and settings before reusing it. Do not connect the separate 12V outputs of a three-bank charger to this single 36V battery.

  • Can I recharge SEAL™ while the engine is running or from solar?

Yes, with compatible charging equipment. A correctly configured SHARK™ DC-DC charger can transfer charging power from the boat's alternator-fed 12V system to the SEAL™ battery. Compatible MANTA™ MPPT equipment provides a solar charging option.

These are system components that must be matched to the boat, battery and connection cables. Confirm the charger, solar equipment and cable requirements for your selected package with your dealer before installation.

  • How do I monitor battery charge and connect to the ABYSS app?

SEAL™ communicates with the CRYSTAL™ X3 battery monitor. The X3 displays battery information and provides the Bluetooth connection used with the ABYSS app when your phone is within range.

Use the specified communication cables, and confirm the monitor and cable contents of your selected package when ordering. Ask your dealer to demonstrate charge status, operating information and app connectivity during commissioning.

  • How much trolling time can I expect from 105Ah?

Runtime depends on average motor current, speed, wind, current, boat load and the reserve you choose to keep. Capacity alone cannot guarantee a full day on the water.

For initial planning, divide 105Ah by the motor's average current draw in amps to estimate hours. For example, a 20A average draw gives a theoretical estimate of 5.25 hours before allowing for reserve and operating conditions. Your dealer can use your motor specifications and fishing style to help size the system.

  • What should dealers, installers and OEMs verify before handing over the boat?

Confirm 36V motor compatibility and current limits, secure the tray and straps, specify the wiring and circuit protection, configure an approved charger, and verify charging and monitoring operation. Follow the current SEAL™ owner's manual and the motor manufacturer's instructions.

For OEM installations, confirm the required CAN/COM equipment and any display or network integration with ABYSS before specifying the system. Record the serial number, charger configuration, wiring plan and commissioning results, and provide the owner with operating and warranty-registration instructions.

  • How should I care for SEAL™ between trips and during offseason storage?

Switch the battery off and follow the owner's manual to isolate connected loads that could drain it during storage. Keep the battery in a suitable dry location protected from damage.

Follow the SEAL™ owner's manual for the storage charge level, temperature limits and checks appropriate to the storage period. Before the next trip, inspect the mounting and connections and verify battery charge and normal operation.

  • What warranty applies, and how do I register or request support?

Under the current ABYSS marine lithium warranty policy, qualifying purchases made on or after August 1, 2026 receive 10-year coverage for defects in materials and workmanship, with repair or replacement at ABYSS's discretion. Registration within 90 days, proof of purchase and the battery serial number are required for that coverage. Earlier purchases retain their original warranty terms.

Register through the ABYSS website or app. For technical support, have your serial number, purchase details, motor and charger models, and a description of the issue ready. Review the current warranty policy for the full terms.

Certifications and Safety Testing

As an industry leader, we aim to be the standard for lithium iron phosphate batteries that withstand the most demanding environments. Each battery is engineered to meet and exceed criteria set by The American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC) for optimal safety and performance.

  • Passed UN/DOT 38.3: LITHIUM
BATTERY TRANSPORTATION

All Abyss Battery®, Inc. Lithium Batteries are required to pass section 38.3 of the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, to ensure the safety of using products for our end users and for shipping purposes. We are proud of our investment to ensure our products have been UN38.3 certified.

    T1 – Altitude Simulation:
This is low pressure testing that simulates unpressurized airplane space (cargo area) at 15,000 meter altitude. After storing batteries at 11.6kPa for >6 hours, these criteria shall be met: no mass loss, leaking, venting, disassembly, rupture or fire, and voltage within 10% of pre-test voltage.

T2 – Thermal Test: This test covers changes in temperature extremes from -40°C to +75°C. Batteries are stored for 6 hours at -40°C (12 hours for large cells/batteries), then 6 hours at +75°C (12 hours for large cells/batteries), for a total of 10 cycles. Testing may be performed in a single chamber or thermal shock chamber, but less than 30-minute transitions shall be used.

T3 – Vibration: This test simulates vibration during transportation. Test is a Sine Sweep: 7Hz – 200Hz – 7Hz in 15 Minutes; 12 Sweeps (3 hours); 3 mutually perpendicular axes.

T4 – Shock: This test also simulates vibration during transportation. Test is a Half-Sine pulse: 150G/6ms for small cells/batteries; 50G/11ms for large cells/batteries; 3 pulses per direction; 6 directions (+/-z, +/-x, +/-y). Same pass criteria as T1.

T5 – External Short Circuit: This test simulates an external short to the terminals of the cell or battery. At temperature of +55°C, apply short circuit (<0.1ohm) across terminals. Maintain at least an hour after sample temperature returns to +55 +/-2°C. Pass criteria are: Case temperature does not exceed +170°C and no disassembly, rupture, or fire within 6 hours of test. Fuse, current limiting circuit, and venting mechanism activation are allowable.

T6 – Impact: This test is only applicable to primary and secondary cells. For cylindrical cells >20mm diameter, it simulates impact to case of cell. For cylindrical cells <20mm diameter and all other cell constructions, it simulates crushing of a cell. Pass criteria for any type is: Case temperature does not exceed +170°C & no disassembly or fire within 6 hours of test.

T7 – Overcharge: This test is for secondary or rechargeable batteries only. It simulates an overcharge condition on a rechargeable battery: 2x the manufacturer’s recommended charge current for 24 hours. Then battery shall be monitored for 7 days for fire or disassembly.

T8 – Forced Discharge: This testing simulates a forced discharge condition for primary and secondary cells only.

Been running this for about 3 months now, couldnt be happier. 2024 Boston Whaler 250 Outrage, fits next to the stock batteries in the compartment after moving them slightly to the right. Paired to a Simrad Recon. Holds the boat in heavy current, and only once thus far have i run it down below 50%, i have the Shark DC/DC, and on a 30mi run back it brought it from 50-80%. Something that might get overlooked, the shark charger will also feed the battery when youre plugged into shore power. I have the AC fast charger but never have to use it. Super happy with the customer support as well. I'll be swapping the AGM batteries to Abyss when the time comes.
